March 16 Update from Fr. Paul

Recognizing the serious nature of the threat we are facing with the rapid spread of COVID-19, in compliance with the directives of government officials and in compliance with the recently released directives of Bishop Konzen, there will be no more public Masses at Saint Joseph Catholic Church in Athens until at least the second weekend of April.

Please look online at the parish webpage and parish Facebook account for scheduled video transmissions of Masses celebrated by our priests.

We will be contacting individually everyone who has requested a Mass intention during this time to arrange for that Mass intention to be rescheduled.

We will suspend having Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament and Holy Hour. The Chapel will remain open from 8am until 8pm daily. We ask that only individuals or families come to pray together and that no large groups gather for prayer.

Confession will not be available at the scheduled times. Anyone wishing to make a confession should call the Sacramental emergency line (470-377-2153) and arrange an appointment with one of the priests.

Only previously arranged Baptisms set on a specific date will be done. We ask that only the parents, godparents and siblings attend. No more Baptisms will be scheduled for the time being.

Weddings and funerals will be allowed with limited attendance.

Stations of the Cross will be cancelled.

The Quinceanera Masses of March and April 4 will be cancelled.

Please let us know your questions and concerns via Facebook “St Joseph Catholic Church, Athens, GA” or by email pmoreau@archatl.com.

Let us pray for the victims of this terrible virus. Let us also pray that we may overcome this threat quickly for the health and wellbeing of all people.
